Think in roles, not a giant dino list
ARK has too many creatures for a flat alphabetical list to help beginners. The better question is what job your tribe cannot do efficiently yet.
Useful creature roles
- Transport: movement, carry weight and route safety.
- Gathering: wood, stone, metal, berries or other specific resources.
- Combat: base defense, caves or boss preparation.
- Utility: scouting, water travel, mobility or special resource access.
Taming priority
Early tames should reduce repetitive work. A creature that doubles resource efficiency can accelerate progression more than a flashy combat tame you cannot feed or protect.
Map-specific creature pages
