Pick the site before the structure
The best early base location reduces travel. Look for nearby fresh water, trees, food routes and enough visibility to understand where threats approach from.
Do not choose a location only because the scenery is good. The cost of hauling every log and water run becomes the real difficulty setting.
Use the guide book in two modes
The guide book supports prefab structures and custom building. Prefabs are useful when you need something functional immediately; custom building is better when you already understand the terrain and want a base shaped around it.
What to build first
- A reliable save/sleep option.
- Storage for food, materials and tools.
- A small protected work/living area.
- Defensive structure only after the base has a useful reason to exist.
Let Kelvin handle material loops
When it is safe, Kelvin can reduce the grind around collection and support jobs. That makes him especially useful during expansion, when the player’s time is better spent planning, scouting or securing better equipment.
Build defense around how enemies reach you
Observe attack routes before overcommitting to walls. Terrain, water, elevation and limited approaches can do part of the defensive job for free. A base that is easy to supply and easy to defend is stronger than a huge base with four exposed sides.
