Choose mods by problem
Start with the pain point: building friction, inventory management, server administration, creature variety or a full conversion. A smaller stable mod list usually ages better than a huge pack.
Server compatibility
On a shared server, required mods affect everyone. Keep a written mod list, versions and load order so recovery after an update is not guesswork.
Update safety
Before updating: back up server data, read mod change notes and test the updated stack before loading the only copy of your main world.
When to remove a mod
Remove or replace mods that are abandoned, consistently break after updates or duplicate systems already handled by another mod. Stability is part of the player experience.
